The 3rd WCD Forum convened in Spier Village, near Cape Town, from 25 to 27 February. 50 of the 68 Forum members attended, as did 28 registered observers, 6 members of the WCD Commission, and members of the Secretariat. The meeting was facilitated by Professor Tony Dorcey of Canada.

The purpose of the Forum meeting was to receive reactions to the report, share information on follow-up proposals and initiatives, and in particular to consider whether there was any need for organised, collective follow-up following the disbanding of the Commission on 16 November 2000.
