The official release of Dams and Development, the WCD's final report, took place on November 16 2000 at Cabot Hall, Canary Wharf, London UK.

Achim Steiner, WCD Secretary-General, introduced the launch

World Bank President,
James Wolfensohn,
welcomed the report

The formal signing of the report by the members of the Commission was followed by speeches from the Commission's distinguished guests:

Nelson Mandela: Former President, South Africa
HRH The Prince of Orange: Chairman, The Second World Water Forum
Mary Robinson: High Commissioner, UN High Commission for Human Rights
(Who sadly was unable to attend. Her message was read by Mr Ahmed Fawzi)
Maritta von Bieberstein Koch-Weser: Director General, IUCN - The World Conservation Union
James Wolfensohn: President, The World Bank

In his closing remarks, Commission Chair Kader Asmal, officially disbanded the Commission
