Large Dams, Small Wonders To hear all the talk about late hours, tight schedules, deadline pressures and long distance travel, one might get the idea that work at the World Commission on Dams left time for nothing but research, writing, eating and sleeping. Yet somehow, during the past two years, some members of the Secretariat staff still managed to find time to become proud parents. Perhaps this is one unforeseen, and now documented, benefit of large dams, and the careful study thereof. In order of their appearance: Nicolas Skinner was born to Jamie and Anna Skinner. Raj Kaghram was born to Sanjeev and Gina Khagram. Hawa Niasse was born to Madiodio and Seynabou Niasse. Nolan Aylward was born to Bruce and Karen Aylward. On the day of the Launch, 16 November, Zufar Hendricks was born to Salih and Tougheida Hendricks. And moments before this issue went to press, a boy, Benjamin John Steiner, had just been born to Secretary-General Achim Steiner and Liz Rihoy.
